Purchasing Specialist II – Direct Hire
Plymouth, MN
Currently looking for a skilled individual to fill a Direct Hire Purchasing Specialist II opening with a manufacturing company in Plymouth, MN. Interested candidates must have 3-5 years of Supply Chain experience in a Manufacturing setting, including strong Planning, Buying & Negotiating skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
Purchasing Specialist II Job Description:
  • Complete purchase requests with domestic and international suppliers by inputting purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and verifying all transactions.
  • Manage assigned commodities by communicating MRP changes and forecast to minimize excess inventory to achieve optimum inventory levels.
  • Manage and analyze supplier OTD and keep in constant communication with suppliers to drive best in class delivery performance.
  • Accurately assign Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS) to stock keeping units (SKU’s).
  • Ensure supplier Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are current and shared with internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with all internal stakeholders to support New Product Development.
  • Manage invoice reconciliations, RFQ management.
  • Work effectively within our ERP system monitoring the planning, execution, control, and measurement functions.
  • Process non-conforming material requests and RMA requests with supply chain partners.
  • Issue Requests For Quotes (RFQ) based on best cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Negotiate and manage long-term pricing agreements on critical commodities.
  • Set up of new suppliers and obtain all the necessary information needed in the ERP system.
  • Collaborate proactively with Supplier Performance as agreed upon for a set period.
  • Execute Kanban and other lean principles with key suppliers.
  • Coordinate communication between quality assurance, engineering, and suppliers.
  • Negotiate material returns using Life Cycle MGMT tools to mitigate sunk inventory costs.
Purchasing Specialist II Job Requirement:
  • Business Management Associate Degree (Bachelors preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 3-years of experience in contract negotiations.
  • 5-years of experience buying in a manufacturing distribution environment.
  • Must be willing to travel (paid)
  • Effectively manage conflict and work under pressure.
  • Strong initiative-taking mindset with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to listen, evaluate and exercise independent judgment.
  • Diligent with making accurate decisions.
  • Intermediate PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing via reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, or customers.
The starting salary for the Purchasing Specialist II position is $70,000-$85,000 annually.
